General Terms and Conditions (GTC)

1. Overview

This website is operated by Laurin Marcel Medwed e.U. and hosted by Shopify Inc. Shopify provides the e-commerce platform we use to sell our products and services.

By visiting our website and/or purchasing from us, you engage in our "Service" and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. These apply to all users of the site, including browsers, vendors, customers, merchants, and contributors of content.

Please read these terms carefully. By accessing any part of the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use our website or services.

2. Scope

These terms apply to all purchases made by consumers through our online store www.stickyslat.com. They do not apply to businesses.

3. Offer and Contract Conclusion

  1. The products shown in our online shop are non-binding invitations to customers to order goods. These include boards made of real wood, so individual items may differ in size and appearance from the images shown.

    Products made of wood are subject to natural wear and tear and may be affected by improper storage (especially in humid conditions) or improper use. 

  2. Order process:

    • Selection of desired goods

    • Click "Order" button

    • Review shopping cart

    • Click "Proceed to checkout"

    • Log in or enter customer data (email, password)

    • Review and correct data if necessary

    • Click "Place order" to confirm

    • Confirm GTC

    Orders can be corrected before final submission via the browser’s "Back" button or canceled by closing the browser.

  3. Confirmation of order receipt is sent automatically via email. This is not an acceptance.

  4. A separate confirmation email constitutes contract acceptance. It includes your order details, invoice, GTC, and withdrawal notice with form. Your invoice and data will be stored.

  5. You will receive a separate shipping confirmation email with tracking info. Delivery is expected within 21 days.

  6. We reserve the right to reject orders. Payments will be refunded within 14 days if applicable.

  7. You can view previous orders in "My Account > My Orders". A confirmation email will be sent.

4. Prices, Payment, Shipping Costs and Refunds

  1. Prices are final prices in EUR, including 20% VAT. Applicable shipping costs are shown before order confirmation.

  2. Accepted payment methods:

    • Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)

    • PayPal

    • Klarna

    • Apple Pay

    • Google Pay

    • Direct Debit

  3. Customs duties, if applicable, are borne by the recipient.

  4. Refunds are issued within 14 working days after receipt of returned goods, to the specified bank account (IBAN & BIC), without any fees.

5. Delivery

  1. Delivery is within 21 business days after receipt of payment. Confirmation with tracking number is sent via email.

  2. Each delivery includes a return label, user manual, and safety instructions.

  3. We are liable for shipping damages. Please report damage immediately to the carrier and to info@stickyslat.com with photo evidence.

6. Shipping Costs and International Orders

  • Shipping costs depend on destination, package size (approx. 60 × 30 × 16 cm), and weight (~3.7 kg).

  • Standard shipping applies for Austria, Germany, and select EU countries.

  • For non-EU orders (e.g., US, UK, Canada), contact us beforehand.

  • Customs/import duties are the buyer's responsibility.

7. Right of Withdrawal for Consumers – Returns & Exchanges

  1. Consumers have a legal right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days of receiving the goods. No reason is required.

Consumer: Any natural person entering into a legal transaction for purposes not primarily attributable to a business activity.

  2. Return shipping costs are borne by the customer.

8. Withdrawal Instructions

Right of Withdrawal You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.

The withdrawal period is 14 days from the date you or a third party named by you (not the carrier) received the goods.

Withdrawal Consequences We will refund all payments received from you, including delivery charges (except additional costs due to a non-standard delivery method), within 14 days from receipt of returned goods.

Refunds will be issued via the same payment method unless agreed otherwise. No fees will be charged.

Return costs due to withdrawal are not covered by us.

Goods must be returned within 14 days of notification of withdrawal. The deadline is met if goods are dispatched on time.

10. Return of Goods

  • Please use original packaging when possible, even if opened for inspection.

  • Package securely to avoid damage or loss.

  • Include order number and return label.

11. Warranty

  1. Statutory warranty rights apply.

  2. We cover shipping costs within warranty claims.

  3. Report defects immediately with proof photos and order number via email.

  4. Warranty does not apply in cases of:

    • Improper use

    • Damage from environmental exposure (moisture, temperature, etc.)

    • Unauthorized repair

    • Unintended processing

    • Customer-caused deterioration

  5. For customer-requested repairs outside of warranty, shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility.

  6. Remove any added parts before return. We are not liable for their loss.

12. Applicable Law

  • Austrian law applies.

  • The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) is excluded.

  • Mandatory provisions of the consumer's home country remain unaffected.

  • The competent court at the consumer’s place of residence applies.

  • History

    The story of Sticky Slat begins with a simple love for mini-cruiser. A few years ago, some of my friends had plastic mini-cruisers, and even though riding them was tricky at first due to their small size, I quickly got the hang of it. Their compact design made them the perfect travel companion for the city.

    As a trained carpenter, I soon had the idea to build my own — a unique, handcrafted wooden board made from solid plum wood. I shaped it carefully and reinforced it with two wooden stripes along its length for extra stability. It looked great — but during a tough ride down a rough street, the board snapped. That’s when I realized why skateboards are traditionally made from cross-laminated veneers.

    Determined to improve, I researched skateboard construction and built my first press using chipboard and threaded rods to apply pressure. After some trial and error, I perfected the molds and began creating wooden boards with a unique touch — using special veneers like zebrano, walnut, and palisander for a standout look.


    Despite their portability, one problem remained: carrying a dirty board in my hand when using public transport. Attaching it to my backpack was complicated and time-consuming, especially when I had to grab it again just minutes later.

    That’s when I started experimenting with neodymium magnets. The goal was simple — a system that let me snap the board onto my bag with one hand but kept it secure while running or moving. The first prototype — a board and a wooden magnetic holder — worked so well that I knew I had something special.

    Since then, the magnetic backpack holder has become an essential part of my ride. It’s practical, stylish, and adds a whole new level of convenience. I can’t imagine going back — and with Sticky Slat, you won’t have to either.
